Activities
Pack 102, based at Grandview UMC in Lancaster, PA, meets monthly as a pack during the school year. These pack meetings are lots of fun and can involve local presenters (like reptile presentations and magicians), movies, skit nights, and off-site activities (like fitness at Universal Athletic Club and archery sessions). The Pinewood Derby in January and the Pack Picnic in May are popular Pack events.
At the den level, Lions (kindergarten) are introduced to Scouting through family-based activities. Tigers (1st grade) focus on additional family-friendly activities, and meet twice a month as a group. Wolves (2nd grade), Bears (3rd), Webelos (4th) and Arrow of Light (5th) meet twice a month. The Arrow of Light Scouts end their Cub Scout journey during the Arrow of Light ceremony at the Blue & Gold Banquet in February. Interested Scouts cross over to Boy Scouts during the same meeting.
Additional Pack-sponsored activities include the annual popcorn and nut sale; Cuborama at Camp Mack; helping the local Toys for Tots organization; participation in the local church's Scout Sunday; a Spring Sleepover to a regional museum or educational facility (like the Franklin Institute or Battleship New Jersey); Scout Night at the Barnstormers; and Summer Camp at Camp Mack.
During the summer, the Pack organizes informal meetings and activities.
Organization
The Pack leadership consists of a Cubmaster, Assistant Cubmaster, Treasurer, Advancement Chair, PR Chair, Committee Chair, Chartered Organization Rep and the Den Leaders and Assistant Leaders. Certain activities, such as the Pack fundraiser, Scouting for Food, summer camp, and overnight outings, also require the coordination of a volunteer parent. Many of these activities require very little time to coordinate, yet result in lasting memories for the Scouts.
Leadership meets once a month to discuss Pack business. All parents are welcome to attend the meetings and to participate in leadership positions.
